Institutional Infrastructure :
Computer
and The GIS Laboratory
The computer laboratory is adequately equipped with
workstations and PC based computer systems capable of handling
statistical analysis, Architectural and graphic design,
geographical information systems, and computer applications.
The computer lab works in Novell 4.1 Networking and the GIS
lab in Unix base.
Remote
Sensing Laboratory
The lab is equipped with sophisticated optical
instruments, high magnification enlarger, software for
processing of images captured from satellites and various
other useful instruments useful in aerial photographic survey
and remote sensing data analysis. The software used is Unix
based Easi/Pace, Unix based Arc-info.
Environmental
Laboratory
The lab is equipped with state-of-art instruments for
environmental monitoring and analysis of various mediums like
air, water, noise, soil.
Energy
Conservation Laboratory
This has been setup with the objective of supporting
energy conservation programs, it is equipped with
sophisticated equipment for conducting energy audits for
environmental testing.
Transportation
Laboratory
It is equipped with the state of the art instrument such
as radar gun, sound level meter and vehicle exhausts analyzer
which help in complicated research procedures in solving
transport planning.
Library
The centre has an up to date library having on line
facility. It has more than 50,000 books related to Urban and
Regional Planning, Environmental Planning, Housing and Design,
Architecture, Civil Engineering, Visual Arts, Humanities etc.
Besides, the library has an inter-library loan facility with
other reputed institutional libraries in the city such as
British Council Library, Center for Environmental Education
Library, Space Application Library, Gandhi Labor Institute
Library etc. The library receives about 100 periodicals of
various fields.
Research
and Development Unit
The school has its own Research and Development unit which
apart from the usual, academic activities undertakes project
works individually as well as in collaboration with various
research organizations at home and abroad. In the past the
school has worked on many planning problems, especially on
Gujarat.
